This week I’m sharing my favorite quotes from the book, The PUNCH-LINE Approach, by my very own Coach and Mentor, Kim Guillory. I’m also sharing my own experience in doing this work, as each of the chapters is a step in the process to personal transformation. Enjoy!
After you start to practice pausing and getting into presence, then seeing what your thoughts are and questioning them, you can then see your habits and behaviors as simply actions taken from old programs. You start overwriting that old software with some updated versions.
“That’s the old me. What do I want to do now? What does the new me think, say, do?”
We practice the first three steps of Presence, Unveiling, and Navigating over and over throughout the day as we become more and more aware of our mind. In my current journey of weight loss and wellness, I’m PUNning all over the place!
Ah! The old me wanted to throwback with some carbs on the couch as soon as Cory went to bed so Mama can have some me time and escape all of life’s worries and watch some Netflix. I wanted to check out at the end of the day. Reward myself for all my hard work as a Mom.
I see so clearly now that it was all part of my victim mentality and my brain wanting to give me some comfort, to stay safe inside my fat body, hide in my cocoon.
Now, once I put Cory to bed, I tidy up, do whatever self-care activities I planned, and get to work on my brain and my business, which I also include as self-care.
Over time the desire or urge to check out and escape on the couch has started to diminish…like it’s not even crossing my mind anymore. I genuinely would rather be sitting at the table typing this blog post then eating.
This is setting myself onto a new course. I’ve set the GPS to GO with my goals as the destination. With my personal thought work and Coach as my guide.
I check in with myself and get present.
I reach out for help when I veer off.
I repeat this cycle until who I am wishing to be becomes just who I am.
I start to embody HER now, ahead of time.
From this state, I can start to consciously CREATE the next version of myself with a new vision….which is the next chapter in The PUNCH-LINE Approach. I can’t wait to discuss this exciting step tomorrow.
